At the 2008 Conference, attendees can get current on pressing concerns in the hospitality industry including franchising, legislation, premises liability, and changes in employment and management contracts. There will be practical tips on metadata, ethics, and corporate compliance, and updates on the ADA and e-discovery.
This year we have included a pre-conference, half-day workshop which discusses subjects pertinent to hospitality real estate, and hotel and restaurant in-house counsel. Presentations will range from land acquisition and development to unions and collective bargaining.
The conference is designed for general counsel and executives of lodging, real estate, restaurant, and club operations; risk managers; directors of loss prevention; franchise service directors; attorneys practicing in the hospitality industry and hospitality law faculty and students.
This year’s two-day conference provides break-out sessions in five different topic areas:
- Food & Beverage - Attorneys in the field will update attendees on matierial specific to the restaurant industry such as wage and hour issues and under reporting in restaurant franchises.
- Lodging - Today contract issues are a special concern. Experts will discuss meeting and function contract issues and best ways to negotiate third party internet contracts.
- Human Resources & Labor Relations - This breakout will explore the ins and outs of labor and employment issues, examine employee manuals, and survey hospitality employment cases.
- Safety, Security & Risk Management - Understanding duties of care, reasonable care, standards of care, and negligence is a growing concern. These presentations will discuss best practices and provide tips on testifying in a mock deposition demonstration.
- International Law - Review international hotel and restaurant procedural issues, contract issues, and liability issues when doing business in Mexico, Latin America, Europe, Canada, and South America.
HospitalityLawyer.com’s sixth annual conference is presented in coordination with the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the American Bar Association, the General Counsel Committee of the AH&LA, the Loss Prevention Management Institute and the Conrad N.
