About Gray Plant Mooty Founded in 1866, our firm is a blend of the traditional and the contemporary. In addition to being one of the oldest firms in the Midwest, we also pride ourselves on having one of the first franchise practices in the country. International Dairy Queen (“IDQ”), founded in 1940, was one of the firm’s first clients. We started representing IDQ on franchise matters in the mid-sixties. Since then, we have built a franchise practice representing over 100 brands. We are one of the preeminent franchise firms in the country and continue to expand our knowledge and capabilities to better serve and understand our franchise clients’ needs.
