There are a lot of misconceptions about how businesses must treat employees who are in the military reserves or the National Guard. The federal law covering those employees is the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, and there is an equivalent California law. A hotel manager asked the following questions:
Q. More and more of my employees have purchased camera cell phones and I’m concerned about them using the phones while at work in my hotel, violating someone’s privacy and my ending up with a lawsuit. Can I put restrictions on the use of these camera cell phones on hotel property?
