The Feds are in the Lobby: And They Want to Review Your H-1B Records
by Fisher & Phillips

The number of H-1B audits will continue to rise in 2010, so H-1B employers should be prepared for unannounced site visits from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to confirm the information submitted in H-1B filings. The USCIS Office of Fraud Detection and National Security (FDNS) has recently commenced an audit of the H-1B program.

Under H-1B regulations, FDNS does not need a subpoena to investigate H-1B employers. One of the USCIS Service Centers has already transferred approximately 20,000 cases to FDNS as part of the H-1B assessment program. As a result, it's clear that site visits will continue and all H-1B employers must be prepared for an unannounced site visit at anytime.

Complaints of bed bugs in hotels, apartments, hospitals, dormitories, theaters and nursing homes are becoming commonplace. A Guide to Comprehensive Immigration Reform
by Jerome Grzeca, Grzeca Law Group
Member of the Global Alliance of Hospitality Attorneys

Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) has been a political debate for decades. Every time it surfaces in national debate, the familiar calls for closed borders and mass deportation to amnesty for all undocumented immigrants garners great discussion in the daily news. True Comprehensive Immigration Reform, however is not a one-sided extreme measure. It’s a finely tuned plan aimed toward addressing

Funny Side of Life

How To Date a Lawyer

The Avvo.com staff provided the following humorous tips to dating lawyers:

  1. Use Latin whenever possible. When you say, “Why, yes, I have a pet! It’s a poodle named Per Stirpes!” any lawyer will turn to putty in your hands.
  2. Always cite sources. When in doubt, point to scientific studies, real or imagined.
  3. Make love notes long and confusing. Brevity and clarity make lawyers feel uncomfortable and agitated, much like normal people feel at the DMV.
