On January 22, 2007, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) approved an amended Franchise Rule (New Rule).  The amendments change not only what franchisors are required to disclose in their Uniform Franchise Offering Circulars (UFOCs) and the timing requirements for making disclosure, but allow for alternative means of making disclosure.  The amended Franchise Rule went into effect on a voluntary basis on July 1, 2007, and on July 1, 2008, the New Rule became mandatory.  It is essential to understand three basic areas of change and be ready, if you have not already begun to implement these changes. more>>
