Department of Homeland Security Seeks Hotel Security Guides
for Compilation into Lodging Guide

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) wants to publish a Protective Measures Guide for the U.S. Lodging Industry. The Lodging Guide would not only help the DHS to become more familiar with the operating and security procedures of the lodging industry, but it also would serve as a general reference guide by which lodging facilities without robust protective measures and/or emergency action plans in place may benefit from the expertise of their industry partners.

The DHS has already worked with members of the Sports Leagues and Public Assembly Subsectors to publish the Protective Measures Guide for U.S. Sports Leagues in January 2008. The Guide provides an overview of protective measures that can be implemented to assist sports teams and owners/operators of sporting event facilities in planning and managing security at their facilities.  Now the DHS hopes to do something similar for the Lodging Subsector.

Your contribution of your hotel security guide would be very helpful. If your hotel has a security guide or any protective measures you would like to contribute, please send them to Diana Singson at Diana@hospitalitylawyer.com.
